Under the inspirational guidance of curate Kramer a local history society was raised in Baarle in 1947. But after the departure of its chairman in 1953, the society was dead and gone. On 8 June 1976 a new society was set up, called ‘Amalia van Solms’.
The occupation of an own clubhouse on 9 September 1989 was an important step forward in Amalia’s history. In no time the membership file tripled and the working was renewed. Since that moment each year about 25 activities have been organised for everyone who is well disposed toward the villages of Baarle. About 65 other moments a year the clubhouse is a meeting-place for everyone that is interested in Baarle and its local history.
